Résumés
An outstanding résumé is essential if one hopes to get beyond the outer office of a firm which is considering filling places. It needs to be tailored to the job which is being sought. Too often, people construct generic résumés which are unimpressive and are obviously created as blanket items which are then sent to numerous addresses. A résumé must present all of the relevant information in an efficient and effective document which is useful to the prospective employer. Dr. Peirce critiques résumés and will customize the content and layout to suit an individual's needs.

Some Résumé writing tips:

[Bullet] Present the reader with what will interest them most first. If the potential employer is interested in experience, put that first.
[Bullet] Don't exaggerate your qualifications, but don't hesitate to market your strengths.
[Bullet] Categorize your résumé into themes. If you have several examples of volunteer work, place them together as an impressive group rather than a series of individual items.
[Bullet] Make your layout interesting but not too complicated. Make it short but don't leave out critical information. If the potential employer is looking for someone now, include the contact numbers for your references. An employer may not take the time to call you up if you simply put that your references are available upon request.
[Bullet] Use simple, subtle but stylish paper. Bold colours tend to make the résumé gaudy. While they may stick out, they may turn the reader off.
