Dr. Michael Roy Peirce, Ed.D.

Since 1985, Dr. Peirce has served at Appleby College, a university preparatory school in Oakville, Ontario where he is currently the Head of School. He has more than 30 years teaching and counselling experience in the independent school system where he has focused on career and educational issues. He was educated at Queen's University where he received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours, Psychology) in 1977 and his Bachelor of Education (Guidance & Mathematics) in 1978. In 1983, he was awarded a Shell Canada Merit Fellowship in Career Education. He completed his Master of Education in Applied Psychology (Guidance and Counselling) in 1989 and his Doctorate in Education (Counselling) in 1994 at the University of Toronto. Dr. Peirce has given presentations and written articles about the university selection process. He has reviewed books for the National Association of College Admission Counsellors, the Guidance Centre and Addison Wesley Publishing. He publishes the Canadian university guide book "For Grads Only" and, in the year 2000, wrote and published "It's Your Choice!", a Canadian university decision making workbook. His last project was the creation of a workbook for Canadian students considering U.S. universities titled "Considering the U.S.". He is currently working on a book for international students considering Canadian Universities titled "Considering Canada".
